Does My Business Need a Website?

The short answer is ABSOLUTELY YES! But in a world where there is uncertainty and we constantly need reassurance and for all you overthinkers, the answer is still YES but here is why:

Think of your website as an asset and investment that will remain the same even if the world around you is constantly evolving. We have become too dependent on social media, but the truth is, no social media platform is guaranteed forever, and your business should not depend solely on follows, likes, or shares.

Social Media Platforms

Social Media Platforms

Consider Myspace for example (I’m hinting at my age – but that’s okay!) Myspace might have been the biggest social media platform of the early 2000s until Facebook came along and dominated the internet and then Myspace was just thrown to the backburner.

Psst…I still get sad when I think of all the pictures I had on my MySpace that are now forever lost in Ciber space.

After Facebook everything else began to explode; Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, the list is literally endless!

I will not deny that all these social media platforms are great for marketing your business, networking, connecting with people all over the world, and finding potential new clients… but, one thing we have learned is that none of these platforms are permanent or reliable and what is popular today will not be popular tomorrow.

Using social media can be an enhancement to your business but having your own website for that business is CRUCIAL. Not to mention the time-consuming and exhaustion that comes with trying to keep up with the trends and algorithms of social media. But, there is a silver lighting and this is when your website comes in!

What are the real benefits of having a website for my business (psst... 5 is my favorite!)…? I’m glad you asked:

1.      Your website is the FIRST IMPRESSION of your business and who you are as an owner or CEO. A well-developed and eye-catching website tells your clients you take your work seriously and shows them you are a professional.

2.      Your website is ALWAYS open for business. Potential new clients can find you no matter the time, date, or holiday. Think of it as your 24/7 personal assistant.

3.      Your website will not change and will continue to belong to you even if social media crashes (which it has in the past); IT BELONGS TO YOU.

4.      You DO NOT want your business to depend on social media platforms and want it to keep running and making you money even if your preferred social media platform is no longer popular or trending.

5.      With your own website you can lean off from social media and stop spending hours on end looking at other people’s businesses and comparing it to yours wishing you had what you think they have. You will also stop stressing or thinking about what you’re going to post next and whether it will get traction or not. You can truly focus on what matters to you the most (the real stuff) not what social media wants you to think is real.
