Marketing Strategies That Work
Marketing Strategies That Work… Home Builder Edition:
When you think about marketing, does it bring you great joy or is it your greatest enemy? I hate to tell you this but regardless of your relationship with marketing; if you are a business owner, you must hold hands and sing Kumbaya.
But don’t worry!! If you are an independent contractor trying to navigate through the uncertainty of high interest rates and don’t want marketing to be another part of your problem, I have a few tips just for you!!
1. Have a Professional Website!
I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to be able to showcase your services, past projects, and client testimonials with high-quality images, virtual tours, or video walkthroughs of your work. When looking for a website designer, make sure they incorporate basic SEO practices, such as optimizing images, using relevant keywords, and crafting engaging meta descriptions to target your desired audience.
2. Social Media Presence
To engage your audience, use platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to share beautiful images of your homes, project updates, tips, and behind-the-scenes content. Engaging with your audience through regular posts and stories can help build a loyal following.
Pro-Tip: Stick to one or two social media platforms that you want to focus on and grow.
3. Content Marketing
Start a blog on your website to provide valuable information related to your services, such as maintenance tips, project planning advice, design trends, or industry trends. Try to be consistent when posting your blogs and for SEO purposes, try to keep it anywhere from 1,000 – 3,000 words long.
4. Online Reviews and Testimonials
Encourage satisfied clients to leave reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, or Angie’s List, which can build trust with potential clients. Once a client leaves a review, make sure to add it to your website and share it on your preferred social media platform. Positive feedback can build trust and credibility with potential home buyers.
5. Strategic Partnerships
Build relationships with local real estate agents who can refer clients seeking new homes. Provide them with marketing materials about your services. If using Facebook as one of your social media platforms, join FB groups and provide your valuable knowledge without being too “salesy.” People will notice you if you are constantly providing feedback and solving their problems.
6. Referral Programs
Implement a referral program that rewards current clients or partners for referring new customers. This does not have to be super expensive! Something as simple as sending a little thank you card or a gift card to a coffee shop will go a long way and will show your referrals how much they are appreciated.
7. Targeted Advertising
Invest in digital advertising, including Google Ads and social media ads, to target specific demographics interested in home buying or building. Use geo-targeting to reach potential customers in your service area.
8. Email Marketing
Build an email list and send regular newsletters featuring new projects, special promotions, and industry insights. Personalizing your emails can lead to higher engagement rates and keeping your audience engaged.
9. Home Shows and Community Events
Participate in local home shows, community fairs, or open houses to showcase your homes and connect with potential buyers. Having a booth or a model home at these events can generate leads.
10. Showcase Certifications and Quality
On your website, highlight any certifications, licenses, or insurance you hold to build credibility and trust with potential clients.
By employing a combination of these strategies, you can effectively reach and engage potential clients, ultimately driving sales and building a strong brand reputation in the market.
Try not to overwhelm yourself by trying to implement every single strategy listed here. Think about what you want for your business and what works and doesn’t work for you.
Try to implement at least two or three strategies in your monthly routine and stick to them! Remember, the longer you do it the more you will see results, consistency is key. Try not to get discouraged when you are not seeing fast results and know that you are planting seeds.
